Managed Firewall Services - Branch Office Firewall Service

Our Branch Office Firewall Service (BOFS) is a fully managed customer premise based firewall solution, specifically designed to protect the site infrastructure of smaller branch offices or remote locations. Connectivity to the site can be established using BT's network or public Internet connectivity. The Branch Office Firewall Service is a firewall solution that we install, configure and manage on the customers' premises to successfully stop security breaches and respond to security incidents. BOFS provides the necessary isolation between a customers' internal network and an external network. For example, a customers' internal network could be the corporate intranet and an external network could be the public Internet. BOFS is a fully managed perimeter security solution for customers who wish to provide Internet and/or private Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity to their office location.

We support OffNet management capability for BOFS; that is, we are able to implement BOFS to customer sites that are not directly connected to our network backbone. The BOFS Off-Net capability is positioned to provide a network security solution for our customers who have remote offices in locations where we do not have a point of presence. In this scenario, the customers' site would connect directly to a local ISP and make use of the VPN Gateway capability to build encrypted tunnels across the public Internet. The service uses the world leading Check Point Firewall-1 software running on the Nokia IP40 platform designed for smaller office locations.
